We at the BBC Scholarship Committee would love to give out scholarships to everyone. However, the Scholarship is limited in its resources. Here are some guidelines for what you can expect:
1. We will only give scholarships to a limited number of what the Beer Bloggers Conference calls “citizen bloggers”, those not promoting a business.
2. We will never give a full scholarship that covers transportation, hotel, and conference registration fee. The maximum we will give is $650 or 65% of the expected total costs of the conference, plane fare, hotel, and other expenses. The goal is for scholarship winners to also participate in their own expenses.
3. We will only give scholarships to bloggers who are consistent posters and have some sort of involvement in the craft beer community.
4. We will only give scholarships to bloggers who demonstrate a need for financial aid.
One other note. You can possibly earn your own scholarship by approaching local craft breweries in your area. We suggest you contact your local breweries and refer them to the donor page of this BBC Scholarship information, where they can choose to donate directly to an individual blogger (i.e. you).
To apply for a scholarship, please send the following information via email to bbcscholarship@gmail.com
- Name
- Contact information including address, email, and phone number
- Blog name, URL, and brief description of what your blog is about
- Requested funds – please be specific, and indicate if you need the registration fee only ($95), full or partial hotel, full or partial airfare, etc. Remember, the maximum scholarship is $650 and a lot of people need assistance, so please be honest and realistic about your requirements.
- In 500 words or more, please tell us why you would like to attend the BBC and why a scholarship will make a difference in whether you can attend.
