Conference Hotel
The conference will take place at the The Met Hotel in downtown Leeds. The Met is a four-star hotel with excellent conference facilities in downtown Leeds, within walking distance of the train station. We have negotiated a fantastic group rate of £69 single or £79 double, including breakfast. To reserve your room, please visit https://www.conferencebookings.co.uk/delegate/LDSBEEREUROPE, which is a booking form set up by the City of Leeds for our conference. (Make sure to leave the star rating as “any grading”.) Alternatively, either call 44-113 2450841 or email reservations.themet@principal-hayley.com and a card authorisation form will be sent to you for completion. If you compare rates on the hotel’s site or other booking engine websites, make sure to ascertain whether those rates include breakfast and have no cancellation penalty.
Cost, Payment, Cancellation, and What is Included
The cost of the conference is £100 for citizen beer bloggers and writers (those unaffiliated with a business or organization), £200 for industry beer bloggers (those whose blog is affiliated with a brewery, retail store, or other business or organization), and £300 for non-blogger participants (industry, media relations professionals, friends and family, etc). We are able to offer a lower price to citizen bloggers and beer-industry bloggers because it is for these folks our sponsors underwrite the conference. Payment is required in advance by credit card.
If you must cancel your registration, your payment is 50% refundable through April 18th and not refundable after that.
The conference includes multiple beer tastings, two dinners, and outstanding content. Not included in the conference price are your hotel, transportation to and from London, and personal expenses.
Start Time and Getting There
Registration begins at 12:30 PM on Friday, May 18th so you should plan to arrive in Leeds that morning. Those of you in Leeds or arriving the day before from out of town can join in on an optional Leeds pub crawl the evening before.
The Metropolitan Hotel in Leeds is located downtown on Kings Street. The hotel is only .2 miles from the Leeds Rail Station, an easy walk. Trains depart Kings Cross station in London frequently and take 2:15 to reach Leeds. If you are flying to the area, Leeds Bradford Airport has direct flights from many European countries and, seasonally, from New York. Make sure to check the airlines Ryan Air and Jet2 for possible flights from your area. Once you are at the airport, you can take a 30-minute train ride to the Leeds central station that departs approximately every half hour.
Finish Time
The conference officially concludes on Saturday evening and you can depart on Sunday morning from Leeds. However, we have included TWO optional brewery visits on Sunday.
The first is a brewery tour, tasting, and lunch at Magic Rock Brewery in Huddersfield, 20 miles and 25 minutes by train southeast of Leeds. There is a train from Leeds at 10:40 AM that reaches Huddersfield at 11:02, where you will be picked up by transport arranged by Magic Rock. The visit will finish with transport back to the Huddersfield station in time to catch the 13:30, 13:58, or 14:30 trains back to Leeds and, from there, on to your final destination. (Note times might change.) The visit to Magic Rock is currently SOLD OUT at 50 participants.
We have added a second Sunday brewery visit and lunch, this one to Roosters Brewing Company in Knaresborough, 18 miles north of Leeds. Roosters was recently acquired by brothers Oliver and Tom Fozard and we learned about them from Tom at last year’s EBBC. Plan to take the 10:54 – 11:39 train from Leeds to Knaresborough, where you’ll be picked up by the brewery, and the 14:44 – 15:30 return train to Leeds. This trip has just been added to the schedule but space is limited.
